Tele-ophthalmology is a web based integrated solution that allows healthcare professionals to perform live and interactive medical examinations on patients in remote locations within the field of eye care with the use of interactive communication technologies.With the advent of telecommunications technologies like email and videoconferencing, the transmission of images of the eye for remote diagnostic and management purposes was conceived.

Services can be delivered through a mobile van/bus to the areas those are unreached by the routine services. The bus may be fitted with a signal receiving antenna mounted on the bus or van. In smaller vans the mounting antenna may create imbalance in driving on the road, hence a foldable antennas are available. Non-stereoscopic digital retinal images and fundus images could be obtained with a non-mydriatic camera. The images will sent via the Internet using a web-based software "e-Sanjeevani" to a reference center, where they will be diagnosed and graded by ophthalmologist. After analyzing the images and the associated data ophthalmologists’ can convey their feedback and can consult further to other doctors if required. These images can also be processed in image enhancer where these images could be modified in the way as their color properties could be enhanced, a particular portion selection; these images can also be magnified and highlighted at a particular problematic area.
