Medical Equipment

Medical equipment is machinery designed to aid in the diagnosis or treatment of medical problems. It is usually designed with rigorous safety standards. Medical equipment is meant for connection of medical devices and techniques possessing digital outputs for telemetric data (digital electrocardiographs, encephalographs, etc.) as well as management of local and remote medical equipment (controlled video cameras, robotized microscopes.

There are several basic types:

  • Diagnostic equipment includes medical imaging machines that are used to aid diagnosis. These include ultrasound, MRI, CAT-scans, PET, and x-ray machines.
  • Therapeutic equipment includes infusion pumps, medical lasers and LASIK surgical machines.
  • Life support equipment is used maintain a patient's bodily function. These include medical ventilators, heart-lung machines, ECMO, and dialysis machines.
  • Medical monitors allow medical staff to measure a patient's medical state. Monitors may measure patient vital signs and other parameters including ECG, EEG, blood pressure, and dissolved gases in the blood.
  • Medical laboratory equipment automates or helps analyze blood, urine and genes.
In addition to the basic equipment to support an examination, there are numerous medical devices to assist in Telemedicine examination of the eye, heart, lungs, and abdomen such as the scanner, microscope, web camera, ECG, Spiro meter.
With our software ‘e-Sanjeevani’, it is possible to connecting of any TWAIN Complaint medical equipment or modalities like scanner, microscope, web camera, ECG, Spiro meter etc both through analog and digital interface. With the right telemedicine equipment and telemedicine software, you can provide new and cutting edge medicine and healthcare for your patients. With our telemedicine technology applications you get clear digital pictures to help with your diagnosis. Our software has various features like Video on Demand, live web-event broadcasts, and MP3 streaming as well as rich media communication applications like video blogging, video messaging and multimedia chat environments to let you reach your audience.
The following is the list of minimal equipment required to set up a cost efficient “Telemedicine station”:
Scanner

A scanner is indispensable equipment for our Telemedicine Project. We drew certain guidelines for selecting the appropriate scanner for our application like: a) Twain Compliance b) Minimum optical resolution of 1200 dpi (Vertical resolution of 2400dpi) c) Color CCD d) USB 1.1 or higher Interface.
Video Conferencing System

Video conferencing system is a revolutionary mean to conduct live sessions between doctors or between a specialist and a patient sitting in different hospitals as it fulfills the lack of face-to-face interactions, thus providing the patient a psychological support. Even lectures, tutorials, and discussions between hospitals can also be conducted for educational purpose. We drew certain guidelines for selecting the appropriate scanner for our application like:
  •  ITU supported standards like FLV, a proprietary format derived from H.263, Mp3 format.
  • ISDN connectivity of 64 Kbps - 128 Kbps (384 Kbps for best results)SGPGI Lucknow.
  • TCP/IP Supported data rate.
  • Flash Media Server 2.0
  • Flash Player 6.0 and above.
  •  Web Camera and Microphone.
  • Min 3 x 128Kbps ISDN BRI for Single Point Video Conferencing and PRI Interface for Multi Point Video Conferencing.
Stethoscope

A PC-based (WIN 98/NT/2000) Stethoscope for digitized Heart and lung sounds with following features: -:
  • Simultaneous phonocardiogram creation.
  • Internal software filters to modify the sound as needed.
  • Memberace diameter 4.5 cm (minimum).
  • Frequency Range: 40 Hz - 2000 Hz.
ECG

A PC-based electronic Electrocardiogram with the following features is required for recording and sending the ECG of patients:
  • 12 Leads standard as it provides spatial information about the heart's electrical activity in 3 approximately orthogonal directions: Right Left Superior Inferior Anterior Posterior.
  • Input Impedance should be greater than 4 MM and ECG CMRR should be greater than 100dB.
  • Standard PC serial / Parallel / USB port Interface.
  • Windows based software for acquisition, review and storage Standard SDK for incorporation in other soft wares.
Telepathology microscope with Digital camera

A Telepathology microscope with Digital camera with the following features is required for recording and sending the ECG of patients:
  • 360 degrees Rotatable
  • Magnification 40x to 1000x.
  • Objective: RIF Plan Infinity corrected 4x, 10x, 40x & 100x.
  •  Eyepiece: W.F. 10x / 22mm focusable paired with eye guards.
  • Certifications.
  • 4.0 mega pixels Digital camera.
  •  Lens with 4x Zoom.
  • Interface USB 2.0.
